Team Chicago "Shoot Your Shot" | Brave New Voices 2019

This iconic Chicago-centric poem shows the everyday violence that black women face on the street. Black women’s bodies are cat called, commodified, brutalized, and raped. Black women are victims of patriarchy and the death and violence that it ensues. They utilize spoken word to communicate the frustration with an urban mindset that sees them exploited for their bodies.
